What am I using to make the ultra realistic videos that keep showing up on social media.
So here is the honest answer. I am using Gemini Omni, Google’s new video model.
What Gemini Omni actually is
Google launched this at their developer conference in May, and it is now rolling out to replace Veo inside the Gemini app.
The simplest way I can put it is this. Gemini Omni makes creating video as easy as having a conversation.
You give it text, a photo, audio, even another video, and it reasons across all of that to produce one clean output. You are not stitching clips together and praying. You describe what you want, you look at it, and you talk it into shape.
Change the background to night. Make the lighting warmer. Slow that part down. It listens and adjusts.
That conversational editing is the part that separates it from most tools I have tested.
Most video tools generate and then leave you to fix things in a separate editor. This one keeps the whole thing inside the conversation.
Is it really free
Here is where I want to be straight with you, because you have heard me say it before. I will never sell you on hype.
Yes, there is a free path. Google is making Gemini Omni available at no cost through YouTube Shorts and the YouTube Create app.
If you have a YouTube account, you can start playing with it today without spending a dollar. That is real, and that is where I tell beginners to start.
The fuller version that lives inside the Gemini app itself sits behind a paid Google AI plan.
So when you see the page say “try it for free” and then also mention upgrading, both things are true. Free to start through YouTube. Paid if you want the deeper version in the Gemini app.
I would rather you know that going in than feel tricked after.
One more thing worth knowing. Every video this tool makes carries an invisible Google watermark called SynthID.
That means anyone can verify a clip was AI generated. I think that is a good thing. It keeps us honest as creators, and honest is the only way I want any of us building.
Where to start
Try it free through YouTube Shorts or YouTube Create. Play with it. Animate a photo. Turn a simple idea into a short clip and watch what happens.
